How to wear a KN95 Respirator: Wash your hands. Choose a mask size and model that fits you well. Hold the mask in your hand and place it over your nose, mouth and chin. Secure the elastic loops over your ears. If the loops are too tight, hold the mask tightly where the elastic to the fabric and gently stretch the elastic. Press the Metal band to fit the shape of your nose and face. Perform a fit check: place hands over the respirator and exhale, adjust if there are leaks.

These standards specify certain required physical properties and performance characteristics in order for respirators to claim compliance with the particular standard. During pandemic or emergency situations, health authorities often reference these standards when making respirator recommendations, stating, for example, that populations should use an “N95, KN95, or equivalent” respirator. *Note: These masks are not sterile and are not intended for use in a medical setting.
